Hai Phong: 16 Mr. Buffalos will compete at Do Son Buffalo Fighting Festival in 2022

DNHN - On the morning of August 10, Do Son District People's Committee organized to provide information to press agencies about Do Son Buffalo Fighting Festival in 2022. The new feature of the festival is special music activities and Vietnamese village fair.
According to the Organizing Committee, the festival will take place in two parts: Ceremony and Festival. From August 27, the incense offering ceremony will be held at Nghe Temple and Nam Hai Than Vuong Temple. The Assembly will take place on September 4, 2022 at the Do Son District Central Stadium, broadcast live on the air of Hai Phong Radio and Television Station.

This year's festival has 6 wards with 16 Mr. Buffalos. The prize structure includes 3 prizes: first prize 70 million dong; second prize 40 million dong; Third prize, 20 million VND each.
The festival does not organize ticket sales to watch live matches. In addition, according to the Organizing Committee, in order to promote tourism development, promote investment cooperation, improve the quality and prestige in building tourism brands and products, the People's Committee of Do District Son assigned the Festival Organizing Committee to coordinate with Viet Thanh Co., Ltd and travel and tourism companies nationwide to bring tourists to Do Son to attend the festival and organize experience tours in Do Son. In particular, the Buffalo Fighting Festival on the 9th day of the 8th lunar month coincides with the National Day holiday on September 2nd, so this is also an opportunity for tourists and their families to have a great resort tour in Do Son.

Therefore, Do Son has launched the best tourism products before and after the festival, such as integrating Bolero music program, EDM music, street music and shopping space in the Vietnamese Village Fair, etc. will create opportunities for visitors to experience and enjoy OCOP products and special seafood of Hai Phong in general and Do Son in particular.
Regarding the organization, Do Son District People's Committee emphasized the coordination of departments, especially the construction of 3-layer fences in the playing field to ensure safety for visitors when watching live buffalo fighting. Mobilize all forces to ensure traffic safety and security during the festival.

The Do Son traditional buffalo fighting festival has been restored since 1990 and is held annually on the occasion of the 9th of the 8th lunar month. The festival was included in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism according to Decision No. 5079/QD-BVHTTDL, dated December 27, 2012. Due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the festival has to be suspended for 2 years 2020 and 2021 in accordance with the direction of the Central Government and the City.
This year, Do Son District People's Committee continues to organize the traditional buffalo fighting festival in order to continue preserving, promoting and affirming the traditional cultural values of the festival; create a highlight to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the recognition of the Do Son Buffalo Fighting Festival as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
