FPT succeeds in generating Vietnamese-made semiconductor components

DNHN - In addition to presenting goods to international markets, FPT Semiconductor concentrates on installing and delivering "Made in Vietnam" chips to domestic businesses.

The dream of producing semiconductor components in Vietnam came true on September 28 with the official introduction of the first line of microchips used in Internet of Things (IoT) goods for the medical sector by FPT Semiconductor, a company that designs and manufactures microchips (under the umbrella of FPT Software).
The integrated semiconductor chip (IC - Integrated Circuit) line is directly developed and organized by engineers at FPT Semiconductor to support certain goods and industries. From Vietnam, the finished design is sent to a factory in Korea for manufacturing and packaging.
To expand sustainably and contribute to refining the manufacturing supply of gadgets for customers in Vietnam between 2023 and 2025, FPT Semiconductor focuses on installing and providing "Make in Vietnam" chips to local businesses.
Over the next two years, FPT Semiconductor plans to supply 25 million chip units to the global market. In 2023, the business plans to introduce seven more chip lines, catering to a range of technical sectors including telecom, IoT, lighting, smart devices, automotive technology, and others.
"We want to create and commercialize chip products, bringing these chips to domestic and overseas markets like as Japan, Korea, Taiwan, USA, Europe, and China," stated Mr Nguyen Vinh Quang, CEO of FPT Semiconductor.
According to Gartner, the worldwide semiconductor chip business will generate over 600 billion USD in revenue in 2021. The number of organizations and firms in the semiconductor chip sector in Vietnam is mostly concentrated on technological universities or foreign enterprises investing in production units.
The present global chip supply chain issue opens up new chances for the Vietnamese chip sector with "Made in Vietnam" chips.
