DNHN - EDURUN – Vinschool’s annual charity run for education – has just concluded its 2024 season with a record-breaking amount raised (since 2015) of 5 billion VND for the construction of schools for children in remote and disadvantaged areas.
Continuing the charitable journey with the mission of “narrowing the education gap”, this year’s event was marked by a large scale, attracting more than 10,000 runners.
The 8th time it has been held, EDURUN 2024 was also a special event to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Vinschool Education System. Countless impressive moments on the running tracks created by Vinschool parents, students, and teachers contributed to a successful and emotional EDURUN 2024 offline Running Day when hundreds of thousands of steps ran towards one destination: providing a better learning environment for children in difficult circumstances.
Record-breaking 5 billion VND raised
The runners and supporters erupted in cheers when the amount raised by the EDURUN 2024 Run was announced: 5 billion VND - the largest amount ever raised for an EDURUN season. 9,713 race kits and 31,000 T-shirts were purchased by parents and students throughout the system in the first week of the launch.
Of this amount, Vinschool recorded a contribution of 400 million VND in cash from the exclusive sponsor, Techcombank, along with charitable activities at 50 Vinschool campuses nationwide that directly supported the EDURUN 2024 fund. From the funds raised this year, Vinschool will work with parents to find a location to build a school for poor children in remote and disadvantaged areas.
At the event, Mr Jeremy Southgate – Representative of the Vinschool Education System emphasised: “Through each charitable project, each social initiative like EDURUN, we have together ignited the flame of caring, sharing, and living responsibly with the community.”
In the sea of people “turning pink” on the EDURUN running track, the presence of inspiring parent ambassadors such as actors Manh Truong, Thanh Huong, Hoang Kim Ngoc, former supermodel Thuy Hang, and footballer Mac Hong Quan… stirred up the atmosphere and helped spread the spirit of “Run for Education” to 10,000 runners. In addition, students and parents who achieved high results in previous EDURUN seasons or won competitions held before the event, especially the presence of the principals of schools built from the EDURUN fund, also became ambassadors and pioneers on the running track.
Journey to narrow the education gap through 8 Edurun seasons
EDURUN is not only a sporting event but also a symbol of community spirit, becoming an indispensable part of Vinschool culture. From 2015 to the present, the programme has attracted more than 160,000 participants and raised more than 21 billion VND, helping to build schools in the most disadvantaged areas of Son La, Quang Tri, Dien Bien, Quang Binh, Ha Giang provinces, etc.
Travelling 500 km from Dien Bien to attend the event, Ms Vu Thuy Lan – Principal of Muong Dun Kindergarten – one of the schools where EDURUN stopped to make the dreams of her and her students come true, emotionally shared: “Since receiving a spacious, clean school, the students have been joyful when coming to school. They can study, play, and experience to their heart’s content, while the teachers can work with peace of mind and the parents can rest assured when sending their children to school.”
With the mission of building a sporting activity for charitable purposes, EDURUN has gone beyond the framework of a school sports movement to become one of the social activities with deep and inspiring humanitarian significance. From here, more disadvantaged locations will be supported, and more spacious schools will be built, contributing to a better life for poor children throughout Vietnam.
Impressive figures from the 8 EDURUN seasons
More than 160,000 people have participated in and supported the EDURUN run since its early years. More than 21 billion VND has been donated to the EDURUN Fund through various forms such as direct participation in the run, direct contributions to the Fund, etc.
11 schools in remote and disadvantaged areas, in 6 particularly disadvantaged localities, have been solidly built from the EDURUN budget. These schools are located in remote and disadvantaged districts. The majority of students attending the schools are children from poor households and ethnic minorities with difficult family circumstances.
More than 40 events accompanying EDURUN have been organised, creating closeness between the runners and the programme, and contributing to spreading the meaningful message of the programme to the community. These include the EDURUN Ambassador Search Contest, the EDURUN Moment Contest, etc.
