Dong Nai pays over 1,200 billion VND in unemployment benefits

DNHN - Dong Nai Employment Service Center collected applications during the first seven months of 2022 and decided to award unemployment compensation to roughly 41,500 persons totalling over 1,200 billion VND. Many instances obtained unemployment compensation totalling more than 100 million VND in 12 months.

Unemployment insurance is founded on the payment-benefits concept, and the majority of jobless persons in Dong Nai have worked for a long time, with a high base wage and a longer duration of unemployment insurance payment. As a result, the average stipend for jobless employees in Dong Nai is larger than in many Vietnamese provinces and towns.

According to a spokesman of the Dong Nai Employment Service Center, unemployment insurance has promoted remarkable efficacy, demonstrating the Party and State's preeminence in measures protecting workers' interests. On average, one individual gets more than 4 million VND in jobless compensation every month. This money has enabled tens of thousands of employees in Dong Nai to sustain their lifestyles while jobless, paving the way for them to return to the labour market shortly.

The number of persons claiming for unemployment benefits in Dong Nai increased by roughly 23% in the first seven months of 2022 compared to the same time in 2021. The majority of the jobless are unskilled employees without degrees or certifications, engaged in foreign-invested firms in sectors such as processing, manufacturing, and service industries. There have also been several reports of people purposefully changing jobs or cancelling labour contracts to claim unemployment benefits.

The Dong Nai Employment Service Center is spreading propaganda and advising employees to submit online applications and manage unemployment benefits on the Service Portal national public service to create favourable circumstances for workers to access policies.
