DNHN - Vietnam's Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) says that shrimp exports in February of this year totalled 244.8 million dollars, which is up 55% from February of last year.
Nearly $ 558 million worth of shrimp were exported in the first few months of this year, an increase of nearly 50% over last year.
Because of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Russian market didn't get as much shrimp from Vietnam in the first two months of this year.
In March 2022, shrimp exports could rise by 40% because of a big rise in demand.
As of February, shrimp exports to the United States totalled 117.5 million dollars, up 61% from the same time last year.
This means that Vietnam is still the fourth-largest shrimp supplier in the United States.
VASEP thinks that shrimp exports will keep growing by about 40% in March 2022 because of strong market demand for the food, which will help.
About 4 billion dollars worth of shrimp will be exported this year, up 3% from 2021.
