DNHN - The Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (VINASME) emphasized that businesses in Vĩnh Phúc province are solidifying their position for sustainable development.
Potential and sustainable growth in the new era
At the celebration of Vietnam Entrepreneurs' Day on the evening of October 9, Dr. Nguyễn Văn Thân, Member of the 14th National Assembly, and Chairman of VINASME, stated that with the tremendous growth potential of Vĩnh Phúc province, the province’s GRDP in the first nine months of 2024 is estimated to reach 7.95%, ranking 20th out of 63 provinces and cities in the country. Total import and export turnover hit $13.05 billion, up 26.37% year-on-year, and attracted $507.94 million in FDI, placing it 11th nationwide.
According to Chairman Thân, Vĩnh Phúc is known for its "five resources"—water, land, forests, minerals, and tourism—developing evenly across three sectors: industry, agriculture, and services. The province’s economic zones are rapidly filling up with manufacturing plants, affirming its role as a key economic driver and a major industrial and service hub in northern Vietnam.
“As the representative organization for the business community nationwide, I admire Vĩnh Phúc's current strong growth and its strategic vision for the next 25 years. The central government has affirmed Vĩnh Phúc’s crucial position in boosting the regional economy, while also being a strategic location politically, militarily, and diplomatically. With clear direction, I believe that the business community and the people of Vĩnh Phúc will continue to receive the strength, confidence, and momentum needed to develop sustainably, alongside the country's growth”, shared Dr. Nguyễn Văn Thân.
He highlighted that the achievements of Vĩnh Phúc today have been significantly contributed by the Business Association and local entrepreneurs. Under the leadership of the Executive Committee and Standing Committee, with strong support from the government and the business community, Vĩnh Phúc’s Business Association has launched numerous patriotic emulation movements, fostering solidarity among members, establishing investment cooperation links, promoting trade, and effectively implementing the Party and State’s policies.
“I am pleased to know that in the first nine months of the year, the province saw the establishment or reactivation of 1,381 new enterprises, raising the total number of businesses in the province to approximately 14,000,” he noted.
The Chairman emphasized that the Business Association has excelled in its role as a representative organization, protecting the legitimate rights and voices of the business community. The association has been actively involved in administrative reform, legislative development, and digital transformation, aiming to improve the investment and business environment, facilitating cooperation and trade between businesses both within and outside the province.
Over the past 20 years, despite many challenges, the Vĩnh Phúc Business Association has continued to grow robustly and comprehensively. The association has continuously asserted the position of provincial businesses on both national and international fronts. Its members are exemplary enterprises contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of the province, and they serve as a solid bridge between government agencies and workers.
Boosting enterprise development in the new era
Chairman Thân emphasized that while challenges related to resources, integration, natural disasters, and pandemics remain, he hopes that all members will continue their strong efforts to live up to the trust placed in them by the government, the business community, and the people. On this occasion, he shared several key suggestions:
First, in the context where the country is facing many opportunities and challenges (especially with its increasingly strong political position on the international stage and the central government’s determination to implement the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress and the socio-economic development strategy to 2030 and vision to 2045), the provincial Business Association and its members must strengthen cooperation, unity, and creativity. They should fully utilize existing advantages, promote the potential and strengths of the province, and closely collaborate with the government, people, and businesses of neighboring provinces to achieve the goals and plans set out by Vĩnh Phúc.
Second, from the perspective of the Association, he urged members to continue strengthening and improving the quality of the Association's activities. There is a need for more creative and innovative initiatives to overcome difficulties in the specific operational context of the Association, thereby "making a sprint" to complete the tasks set out.
The association has successfully represented and defended the rights and voices of the business community. It needs to continue actively participating in administrative reforms, legal development, and digital transformation to improve the investment and business environment, making it easier for businesses to collaborate and trade. Furthermore, fostering a spirit of “self-reliance, confidence, independence, resilience, and national pride” will further solidify the association’s position as a true representative organization that nurtures and fosters the development of the business community.
Third, given limited resources, the association's activities should focus on prioritized objectives that bring tangible and clear benefits to its members, thus increasing the number of businesses joining the association. We must continue to advance not only in providing support but also in raising political and ideological awareness among businesses, helping them understand more deeply their honor and responsibility to the country and its people. Additionally, the association should serve as a link for international competition. While the province’s businesses have exported to 40 countries, there is still ample room for growth. Therefore, the association should have specific plans to help member enterprises expand their markets.
Finally, digital transformation is an inevitable trend and the key for businesses to improve production and business models, enhance work efficiency, and reduce costs. We need to quickly access technological advancements to enhance competitive advantages, especially in the context of regional and international fluctuations.
