DNHN - The friendly basketball match between Myong Ji University (Korea) and Thang Long Warriors opens up many opportunities for developing basketball talents of Vietnamese students through the activities of the Korea-Vietnam Economic Cooperation Committee.
The friendly basketball match between Myong Ji University (Korea) and Thang Long Warriors (Vietnam) was the first match between the two teams in 2024, held in Hanoi recently. The two teams put on a spectacular performance.
Thang Long Warriors is a professional basketball team founded in 2017. Thang Long Warriors is currently competing in the Vietnam Basketball Association (VBA) professional basketball league. The team won the championship in their first year of competition in the 2017 VBA and continued to show impressive form by reaching the VBA Playoffs in subsequent years. In addition to playing professionally, Thang Long Warriors also focuses on developing the country’s basketball scene by cooperating with the ASA Academy to train basketball and develop youth teams. Each year, Thang Long Warriors organises 1-2 tournaments outside the VBA, creating a playground for basketball players of all levels and ages to compete, interact, and learn. Thang Long Warriors also organises trips to visit primary, secondary, inter-level, and university schools in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to spread the basketball movement, connect young people, and bring basketball closer to schools.
Mr Kim Tae Jin - Head coach of the Myong Ji basketball team said: Through the social activities of the Korea-Vietnam Economic Cooperation Committee (KVECC) and introduced by Mr Kwon Jae Heang - Chairman of KVEEC and Head of the Korean Multicultural Organisation. This is the first time that Myong Ji University’s basketball team has come to play a friendly match and experience Hanoi, which is very meaningful for the students because the Myong Ji team is the first team from Korea to organise a friendly basketball match with Vietnamese teams. At the same time, this is also an opportunity for me to study the Vietnamese basketball market and a good opportunity for Korean students to experience playing in a foreign environment to accumulate experience for better development in the future.
With the starting lineup of Thang Long Warriors basketball, Mr Kim Tae Jin highly appreciated the quality of the game along with the preparation, and investment, and through this friendly match, the Thang Long Warriors team will develop rapidly soon.
With an attractive style of play and professional passing moves, the two teams continuously created exciting moments. The athletes cheered enthusiastically and could not take their eyes off the two teams from the beginning to the last minute of the match.
In the end, Myong Ji won convincingly.
