Approval for an investment of 2.4 trillion VND to upgrade and expand Ca Mau Airport

DNHN - Ca Mau Airport will be upgraded and expanded with a total investment of 2.4 trillion VND from the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has just signed Decision No. 1188/QD-TTg approving the investment policy for the upgrade and expansion of Ca Mau Airport, with a total investment capital of up to 2.4 trillion VND. This project is not only about upgrading infrastructure but also serves as an important stepping stone for the economic, cultural, and social development, as well as national defense security of Ca Mau province and the region.

The main objective of the project is to expand and upgrade Ca Mau Airport to ensure the ability to operate A320, A321, and equivalent aircraft. This will not only facilitate increased flight frequency but also attract investment and promote tourism and trade between Ca Mau and other provinces and cities across the country.

The development of aviation infrastructure in Ca Mau is expected to contribute to improving the quality of air transport services while providing momentum for local economic development. With this expansion, Ca Mau Airport will not only serve the travel needs of residents but also facilitate the transportation of goods, especially agricultural products from the province to international markets.

The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) is the investor of the project to expand and upgrade Ca Mau Airport, with an investment capital of approximately 2.4 trillion VND.

The project to upgrade Ca Mau Airport, implemented by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), is entirely funded by equity capital. One of the most important components is the construction of a new runway measuring 2,400m x 45m. This will ensure the operational capability for modern aircraft such as the A320 and A321, thereby enhancing the airport's operational efficiency to meet the increasing demand of passengers and cargo.

In addition to the runway construction, the project also includes the development of taxiways and parking areas for aircraft. The taxiway will be designed with dimensions of 128m x 15m, directly connecting to the parking area, and will include 5 waiting taxiways to ensure smooth traffic flow. The southern parking area will measure 182m x 112.5m, sufficient to accommodate 3 parking spots for A320 and A321 aircraft. This infrastructure investment not only facilitates the development of local aviation but also contributes to connecting Ca Mau with other provinces and cities.

Another important aspect of the project is the expansion and renovation of the existing passenger terminal. The terminal will be upgraded to handle 500,000 passengers per year, with the potential to expand to 1 million passengers per year in the future, should demand increase. The construction area of the terminal will be approximately 2,668m², with a total floor area of up to 4,200m². This investment will not only enhance service quality but also improve the experience for passengers arriving at and departing from Ca Mau Airport.

Additionally, the project will also construct several supporting facilities, such as connecting roads, an external parking lot, a fire station, a security fence system, and a ring road.

This upgrade is expected to create positive impacts not only for Ca Mau Airport but also for the entire Ca Mau province. Enhancing operational capacity will help strengthen transport connectivity, facilitating the movement of goods, thereby boosting agricultural production and developing tourism.

Moreover, the airport's development will also contribute to improving the quality of life for local residents. Travel will become easier, saving time and costs. This also opens up opportunities for domestic and foreign investors seeking investment opportunities in Ca Mau, thereby enhancing economic value and attracting resources to the province.

Ca Mau Airport not only meets travel needs but also plays a crucial role in ensuring national defense and security. With its strategic geographical location, upgrading the airport will enhance the capacity to respond to emergencies and protect national security in the context of complex regional security developments.

According to the approval decision, the Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee will implement land allocation according to the approved plan to deploy the project. At the same time, this agency will also be responsible for inspecting and supervising the implementation of the project by ACV in accordance with legal regulations and the directives of the Prime Minister.
