Vietnam spent $6.65 billion on petroleum imports in the first nine months of 2023.

DNHN - According to the General Department of Customs, Vietnam imported over 8 million m3 of petroleum, equivalent to USD 6.65 billion, in the first nine months of 2023, with Korea being the leading supplier of petrol.

According to the latest figures from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam imported more than 826,319 m3 of petroleum worth 783 million USD in September, a decrease of 24.7% in volume and 21.0% in value compared to the previous month. 8. Compared to the same month in 2022, petroleum imports to Vietnam increased by 31.5% in volume and 27% in value this month.

In September, the price of imported petrol reached 948 USD/m3, up 4.8% from August but down 2.2% from September 2022. This is also the fourth consecutive month in which the price of imported petrol has increased and reached its highest point since the beginning of the year.

Vietnam imported more than 8 million m3 of petroleum worth $6.65 billion in the first nine months of 2023, an increase of 23.1% in volume but a decrease of 2.4% in value compared to the same period in 2022. Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia are Vietnam's top three petroleum suppliers, accounting for more than 81% of Vietnam's total petroleum imports in the past nine months. Consequently, Vietnam imported 355,540 m3 of petroleum from Korea worth over 333 million USD in September, a volume and value increase of 83% and 66%, respectively.

In nine months, Vietnam imported 3,3 million m3 of petroleum for over $2.7 billion, a 29.1% increase in volume but a 1.6% decrease in value compared to the same period in 2022. During the first nine months of the year, goods purchased from Korea accounted for 41.1% of Vietnam's total petroleum imports.
