DNHN - Consul Kith Sothearith is the General Consul of Cambodia in the city. During a meeting with the Business Delegation and the Representative Office of Business and Integration Magazine in the city, HCM disclosed certain details.
The business and Integration representative office in the City will observe the 70th anniversary of the National Day of the Kingdom of Cambodia (November 9, 1953 – November 9, 2023) on November 7, 2023. Ho Chi Minh City arranged for Vietnam Television Technology Online Joint Stock Company-TVO and business delegation representatives to pay homage to the Consulate General of Cambodia in Ho Chi Minh City and extend their congratulations.
During the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Lap, Head of Representative Office in Ho Chi Minh City, Enterprise and Integration Magazine, conveyed the business delegation's sincere regards to the Consul General, his spouse, and the Consuls' families, as well as the Commercial Counsellor. Additionally, he wished the Royal Family, the government, and the Cambodian people an everlasting existence filled with amicability, prosperity, ongoing progress, and profound global integration.
Several upcoming matters were deliberated and agreed upon by the two parties via the Cambodian Consulate General in the city. Ho Chi Minh City serves as an intermediary between the business communities of the two nations, fostering cooperation, investment, trade, dialogue, and exchanges to advance economic development. Furthermore, Mr. Kith Sothearith, Consulate General of Cambodia, stated: "Over the past few years, there has been a consistent growth in the investment cooperation ties between Cambodia and Vietnam, with particular emphasis on the following: As a result of the reciprocal trade of import and export commodities between the two nations, Vietnam ranked as the second largest importer in Cambodia during the initial months of 2023. Furthermore, VietJet has inaugurated a direct flight from Vietnam to Siem Reap airport, which contributes to the tourism industry. The Cambodian government places particular emphasis on infrastructure development and fostering an environment that is conducive to the attraction of foreign enterprises seeking to invest in Cambodia.

Currently, there are 188 active investment projects in Cambodia initiated by Vietnam, amounting to approximately 2.846 billion USD in registered capital. This places Vietnam atop the ASEAN region and the group of five countries with the most substantial direct investments in Cambodia.
Agriculture, finance, banking, insurance, and telecommunications comprise most of Vietnam's investment activities in Cambodia. These endeavors contribute to the country's socioeconomic development, raise living standards, increase revenue collection, foster infrastructure growth, and generate employment opportunities for tens of thousands of Cambodian workers. Cambodia ranks 54th among nations and territories investing in Vietnam with a cumulative registered capital of 64 million USD across 21 investment projects.
