More and more cases of impersonating CIC to scam

DNHN - It is prohibited, according to CIC officials, for objects to imitate and use the above CIC website to swindle and generate consumer confidence in order to steal people's money.

As several consumers at the Vietnam National Credit Information Center (CIC) Ho Chi Minh City office have reported, a large-scale organization mimicking CIC comes in the market and commits fraud.

Customers' money must be borrowed wisely. To gain consumer confidence, this organization uses the name "CYC" (nearly similar to CIC), and its personnel masquerade as CIC officials, asking for personal information such as: identity card, citizen identification, income, employment... 

Furthermore, this organization revealed that it has relationships with a number of credit institutions in order to provide consumers with favorable loans on the condition that customers pay the "insurance" cost for the loan in advance.

The organization also offers clients with the actual website URL of CIC so that they may verify facts. The loan is not received and cannot be reached after the consumer sends the loan insurance payment via mail.

According to CIC leaders, it is illegal for subjects to impersonate and use the above CIC website to defraud and create customer trust in order to appropriate people's money, and seriously harms the image and reputation of the CIC, the State Bank, and credit granting activities of credit institutions.

As a result, CIC advises clients to: Do not click on the link imitating CIC; Do not pay fees to any business mimicking CIC in order to get credit reports or apply for loans; Customers are cautious when providing personally identifiable information with service providers, such as people's identity cards and citizen identification, and only provide information with really respectable and dependable service providers.
