Mobilising Vietnamese Resources Abroad, Linking Communities and Enterprises

DNHN - On December 27, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, and the Hai Phong City People's Committee co-organized the Conference on Mobilising Overseas Resources, Connecting Localities and Businesses.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang emphasised in his conference speech that despite complicated developments in the international political and economic arena, our nation has managed to accomplish numerous noteworthy feats thanks to the Party's astute and prompt leadership, the vigorous efforts of all governmental branches, local communities, and the nation as a whole.
It would be hard to discuss these noteworthy accomplishments without recognising the invaluable contributions made by the Vietnamese population living abroad. Our community, with its history of tenacity, fortitude, and ambition for progress, has worked hard in recent years to overcome obstacles, grasp opportunities, and consistently increase in both quantity and quality despite a great deal of pressure. Apart from making valuable contributions to the socio-economic advancement of their host nations, Vietnamese expatriates have consistently maintained a strong bond with their homeland, offering support in multiple capacities ranging from material resources to managerial expertise and knowledge.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed great gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Hai Phong City People's Committee for taking the initiative to organise the conference, particularly in light of the nation's collective efforts to surpass one another to effectively achieve the goals outlined in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress. The conference's topic, "Connecting Overseas Vietnamese with Localities and Businesses," according to the deputy prime minister, and the conversations on supply chain growth, green investment, and human resource development are in line with the government's present priorities. Additionally, Vietnamese living abroad possess expertise and understanding in these fields, allowing them to advise pertinent organisations and work on particular cooperative initiatives with local communities and companies. The Deputy Prime Minister asked that the sincere contributions made by Vietnamese living abroad be recognised and assimilated by the domestic authorities in a welcoming manner. The ultimate objective is to mobilise Vietnamese expatriates' resources to build a robust and successful Vietnam where its people live happy and contented lives.
Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang emphasised during her speech at the opening ceremony that the Vietnamese community living abroad has developed over time into a valuable resource with enormous potential that can significantly aid in the creation of a strong and prosperous Vietnam. The contributions of the Vietnamese people living abroad have always been greatly valued and respected by the Party and the State of Vietnam. Under the guiding premise that "overseas Vietnamese are an inseparable part and a resource of the Vietnamese ethnic community," the Party and State have adopted a plethora of policies and measures. To help abroad Vietnamese people stabilise their lives in their host nations and make contributions to their own country, the Party and State have continuously taken care of, supported, and established favourable conditions for them.
The State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been leading the charge in collaborating with other ministries, sectors, and localities to execute various initiatives in tandem to nurture, mobilise, and take care of the resources of Vietnamese living abroad in support of the country's development over the past few years. The purpose of today's meeting is to further strengthen the relationship between Vietnamese nationals and their foreign counterparts. The Committee has held several conferences, seminars, and networking forums in recent years. Additionally, it seeks to establish a long-lasting structure and system that will motivate Vietnamese living abroad to contribute to national development in fields that complement local resources.
With about 50,000 Hai Phong locals living in 56 countries and territories worldwide, the overseas Hai Phong community has long been a vital resource for the city's growth, as Hai Phong City Party Secretary Le Tien Chau confirmed in his welcome address to the conference. Additionally, they have helped to forge friendly and cooperative ties between the city and its foreign partners and communities.
Hai Phong City has given overseas Vietnamese matters a lot of attention lately, releasing procedures and guidelines to entice overseas Vietnamese in general and overseas Hai Phong residents, in particular, to contribute to the building and development of the city. The city always welcomes back its children, who come bearing love, hopes, dreams, ideas, and resources to make a positive impact on the city in many areas, particularly in critical areas like innovation, R&D, technology and experience transfer, digital transformation, and new material technology. In not too distant time, this will allow Hai Phong City to realise a green, circular economy and grow into an international city. In addition, the city anticipates that every Vietnamese scholar and entrepreneur living abroad will serve as an "ambassador," introducing friends from across the world to Hai Phong's beautiful landscape, rich cultural heritage, and friendly locals.
Three thematic discussion sessions covering the following subjects were held after the inaugural session. The first session was about green financing and infrastructure investment, in particular, of superior quality. Vietnamese people living abroad assist communities in changing growth models, gaining access to supply chains, logistics, renewable energy, auxiliary industries, and environmentally friendly travel. The second discussion was about improving the status, reputation, and national brand and collaborating in the fields of education, HRD, labour quality, and lawful immigration. The final session discussed trade, exports, food security, the use of Vietnamese goods, rising export values, and market diversity.
Apart from participating in the discussions, the delegates also paid visits to other social, cultural, and economic establishments within the vicinity. Through the conference, more chances for networking and investment cooperation were made known to the Vietnamese community living abroad regarding Hai Phong's development orientation, position, people, and investment environment. Additionally, it urged Vietnamese living abroad to actively contribute their knowledge and resources to the city's development across a range of industries.
