DNHN - Industry promotion projects have helped farm produce processing enterprises in the Mekong Delta province of Long An increase productivity, improve product quality and add value to agricultural products.
Long An has significant potential and advantages for agricultural development, especially produce for exports. In recent years, the province has been interested in commodity-oriented agricultural production.
There are more than 200 farm produce processing enterprises in Long An, most of which produce raw agricultural products of modest value. Some of them are foreign-invested enterprises capable of intensive processing, but using mainly imported materials.

With industry promotion capital of VND300 million, the HG Food Joint Stock Company procured a new Vietnamese ultra-fine dragon fruit pulper (Model MN-2021) worth VND600 million. The new equipment has helped the company improve productivity, product quality, revenue and profit.Long An is mobilizing resources from different sources to develop farm produce processing, including industry promotion capital. Through a 2021-2023 national industry promotion project, the Industry and Trade Promotion Center of Long An Province has helped farm produce processing enterprises develop production. In 2021, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the center achieved efficient results.
Another industry promotion project – a lemon processing and sorting line - helped Lam Van Nguyen household business solve labor shortages.
Through industry promotion projects, Long An has greatly helped rural industrial producers modernize farm produce processing and production.
Apart from national industry promotion capital, Long An uses a significant part of the provincial industry promotion budget for agricultural product processing development, with beneficiary projects including application of automated equipment and technology in shrimp sauce bottling and packing; application of dryer in sausage production; and application of viscous material packing machine in the production of lemon and kumquat-based products, among others.
Long An’s industry promotion sector continues to support rural agricultural product processing enterprises in 2022. The provincial industry and trade promotion center has plans to realize national and provincial industry promotion projects worth VND3 billion and VND1.5 billion, respectively, in addition to trade promotion projects worth VND3 billion and consulting contracts worth VND1.8 billion.
Last year, the Industry and Trade Promotion Center of Long An Province fulfilled all national and local industry promotion plans for 2021, winning praise from beneficiaries.
