According to data released by the General Statistics Office on April 29 in the morning, the entire country had nearly 16,000 newly established enterprises with a registered capital of VND 154,600 billion and registered employees of nearly 119,100 in April 2023. This represents an increase of 12.3% in the number of enterprises, 6.2% in the registered capital, and 28.5% in the number of employees compared to March 2023.
A 6.4% increase in the number of enterprises, a 5.7% decrease in the registered capital, and a 13.7% increase in the number of employees compared to the same period last year.
Thus, after a slight decline, the number of newly established businesses in April 2023 rebounded as a result of the return of business opportunities. This is evidenced by the fact that the number of businesses resuming operations in the month increased by 52.9% over the previous month and by 36.0% over the same period in 2022, to 9,610.
In the first four months of 2023, the country as a whole registered 49,900 new businesses with a total registered capital of nearly 465 billion VND and a total registered employee count of 331,400, representing a 0.6% increase in the number of businesses. In comparison to the same period last year, registered capital decreased by 26.8% and the number of employees decreased by 4.8%.
Consequently, the average registered capital of a newly established company in the first four months of 2023 was VND 9.3 billion, a decrease of 27.2% from the same period in 2022.
If 604,600 billion dongs of additionally registered capital of 17,174 enterprises raising capital in four months is included, the total amount of additionally registered capital into the economy in the first four months of 2023 is 1,069.6 trillion dongs, which is 46% less than the same period in the previous year.
In addition, nearly 29,000 businesses resumed operations (down 6.2% compared to the same period in 2022), bringing the total number of newly established enterprises and businesses resuming operations in the first four months of the year to a total of nearly 50,000. 2023 to 78,900 businesses, a decrease of 2% compared to the same period last year. There are an average of 19,700 newly established and returning businesses each month.
In the first four months of this year, there were 501 newly established businesses in the agriculture, forestry, and fishing sectors, a decrease of 29.5% compared to the same period last year; 11,900 businesses in industry and construction, a decrease of 6.5%; and nearly 37,400 businesses in the service sector, an increase of 3.5%.
In April 2023, there were 7,163 businesses registered to suspend operations for an indefinite period, an increase of 72.7% over the previous month and 32.9% over the same period in 2022; 5,837 businesses were shutting down and awaiting dissolution procedures, an increase of 69.1% and 55.2%; and 1,509 businesses completed dissolution procedures, an increase of 6.9% and 23.0%.
In the first four months of 2023, 49,900 enterprises ceased operations for an indefinite period, a 21.8% increase over the same period in 2022; 20,900 enterprises ceased operations and awaited dissolution procedures, an increase of 39.9%; and 6,100 enterprises completed dissolution procedures, an increase of 10.0%. Every month, an average of 19,200 businesses withdraw from the market.
