In addition, in the second quarter of 2023, Vietnam will harvest a variety of fruits, and China will grant more planting area codes for many new products such as passion fruit and durian, which is advantageous for the fruit and vegetable industry's expectation of setting a new record.

Vietnam's fruit and vegetable products were exported to 27 countries and territories in the first five months of 2023, with 17 markets reaching over 10 million USD (China alone reached 1.29 billion USD, accounting for over 63.5 million USD. of Vietnam's total fruit and vegetable exports).

Nine markets, including China, the Netherlands, Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Japan, and Germany, grew by more than two million dollars in comparison to the same period of the prior year.

Fruit and vegetable businesses estimated that although exports to certain markets such as the United States, Canada, Australia, and Hong Kong declined, the sharp increase in imports from the Chinese market helped to offset the global market decline.

Nonetheless, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development noted that the export of vegetables and fruits to China is becoming increasingly competitive with similar products from Thailand, Cambodia, and the Philippines. There are still 7/12 export items that do not have a protocol, making it difficult for key products such as dragon fruit, mango, and jackfruit to reach their full potential and hindering the promotion of fruit and vegetable exports to China.
