DNHN - Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, met with a delegation of the World Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) on 12 July to discuss the promotion of logistics activities in Hai Phong
During the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong informed FIATA that Hai Phong is the only city in the region to have experienced exceptional socio-economic development in recent years. The Northern region has all five modes of transport, including road, rail, air, sea, and inland waterways, as well as natural geographical conditions and a seaport system, which contribute to development-friendly conditions. logistics service industry and become the Northern region's logistics hub.
Green Logistics Centre and Yusen Logistics Logistics Centre (Dinh Vu Industrial Park) are already operational logistics centres in Hai Phong; CDC Logistics Centre (Dinh Vu Industrial Park 2) and Centre of Hai Phong International Gateway Port Industrial Park (Deep C III) are currently under construction. The Vice President stated that, by 2025, the growth rate of logistics services is expected to be between 30% and 35% per year; the proportion of contribution to the city's GRDP is between 20% and 25%; the rate of outsourced logistics services is approximately 60%; By 2030, the proportion of outsourced logistics services will reach approximately 65%. At the meeting, FIATA leaders stated that FIATA is the world's largest freight forwarding and logistics organisation, founded in 1926, with official members consisting of National Associations of Forwarders and Forwarders and partners consisting of private forwarders in the world. The Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA) hosted the Asia-Pacific Annual Meeting of FIATA and the mid-year meeting of the ASEAN Federation of Forwarders Associations (AFFA) in Hanoi for the occasion. From 13 to 15 July 2023, a delegation from Da Nang visited Hai Phong to learn about the city's future logistics development opportunities and strengths.
Through the programme of visiting and learning at Tan Cang International Container Terminal Co., Ltd., VIDIFI Duyen Hai Investment Joint Stock Company and exchanging information at the meeting, FIATA conveyed its opinion regarding the benefits of multimodal transport. According to FIATA, shortly, local authorities will need to create conditions for the improvement of the railway infrastructure, in addition to planning the interconnection of seaport and waterway systems... In the coming years, Vietnam in general and Hai Phong, in particular, will have many opportunities to diversify their supply chains and production. FIATA leaders also stated that VLA's cooperation with FIATA will be crucial in contributing to solving the problem of multimodal transport towards the construction of a Digital Centre for Hai Phong Port, enabling Hai Phong to become a regional logistics hub.
