Dong Thap prepares to organize Forum on OCOP products and Mango festival

DNHN - As planned, the Forum on OCOP products of Dong Thap and Mekong Delta provinces in 2022 with the theme of "Connecting for mutual development", will take place at the end of April 2022, at Dong Thap Sports Training and Competition Center, with over 350 booths.

On the morning of March 4, 2022, Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Huynh Minh Tuan chaired a meeting with Trade, Tourism and Investment Promotion Center, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Industry and Trade to discuss planning this event.

In addition to the OCOP products space, there are also cultural space and performing arts, food courts, commercial booths, wildlife scenes, and nightly art performances.

Along with that, seminars on developing and connecting OCOP products, promoting OCOP products on e-commerce channels; typical OCOP product contests, etc.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Minh Tuan requested to diversify OCOP products participating in the forum; The Center for Trade, Tourism and Investment Promotion advises the Provincial People's Committee on supporting exhibition booth costs; The Department of Industry and Trade connects with e-commerce platforms and Trade Centers to organize OCOP Products Week within the framework of this forum.

For the first Mango Festival, which is expected to be held in 2023, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Trade, Tourism and Investment Promotion Center to urgently advise to issue a plan this March, assign specific tasks to each department, branch and locality; evaluate the result after the festival.

Mr Mrynh Minh Tuan directed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to closely cooperate with localities and mango farmers to model mango orchards, standardize production processes to ensure quality; Department of Industry and Trade connects businesses, purchasing units, etc.

Expected actions of the Mango Festival include Announcement and award of geographical indication registration certificates for mango products; register to set records; mango contests; honour mango farmers; sightseeing, travel experiences at mango orchards, etc.
