DNHN - In the Conference of investment in Can Tho City, with the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the City People's Committee granted 43 investment policy choices and investment memoranda totalling up to hundreds of thousands of billions of VND.
There are numerous investment policy initiatives with capital budgets in the trillions of billions, spanning numerous industries. For instance, the infrastructure projects for industrial parks in the districts of Co Do, Vinh Thanh, O Mon, and Cai Rang, with a combined area of approximately 3,000 hectares and a total investment capital of over 50,000 billion VND; biomass power plants valued at 6,000 billion VND; wastewater treatment projects valued at 3,050 billion VND; and waste treatment plants valued at 3,250 billion VND, etc.
Notably, Motor GP of Pavilion International Group (Malaysia), represented by partner Global Partnership Company Limited, is a sports, entertainment, and resort complex that was signed with a memorandum of agreement. It is estimated to require up to 1.4 billion USD in capital.
Regarded as one of Malaysia's top real estate development firms, Pavilion International Group specialises in building hotels, opulent shopping malls, and premium residential complexes on a large scale situated in affluent urban and suburban regions.
The chairman of Pavilion International Group (Malaysia), Mr. Bobby Yeoh Lam Jit, stated during the conference that prior to making a decision, Pavilion International Group and the city's authorities should work together to learn and have meaningful discussions to develop projects that are worthy of Can Tho city's potential. "We think we will soon be able to implement the Motor GP sports, entertainment, and resort complex project, with the highlight being an elegant GP motor racing track, with the support and coordination of local leaders, to make Vietnam in general and Can Tho in particular become noticed on the global GP Motor race map. From there, it also creates more chances for tourism, investment, and advancing the Mekong Delta's economic growth in Can Tho and the surrounding areas”, according to Mr. Bobby Yeoh Lam Jit.
Ms. Tran Thi Quynh Van, General Director of Global Partnership Company Limited, the representative partner of Pavilion International Group (Malaysia) carrying out the project in Can Tho also stated: "At this time, we cannot disclose detailed information. It won't be tough, though, if all you invest in is real estate, lodging, and resorts. Our goal is to reach the pinnacle here, which is the Can Tho international Motor GP racecourse.
Through Resolutions of the Politburo, National Assembly, and Government, the key Government is giving Can Tho, the key urban hub of the Mekong Delta, a lot of attention. Projects including the construction of roads, railroads, ports, aircraft, and regional and interregional links, in particular, substantially help the city. With that benefit and growth momentum, the sports, entertainment, and resort complex at Motor GP will undoubtedly have an impact on the neighbourhood and encourage the development of other parts of the city more vigorously when it is professionally and systematically implemented."
Regarding the proposal mentioned above, Mr Truong Cong Quoc Viet, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Can Tho, stated that it is worthwhile to wait for the world-class Motor Grand Prix racing competition, or the "Motor GP model" since Can Tho has long been known as a centre for national professional motorcycle racing tournament organisation in the South. People in the West are all too familiar with the scene of people swarming to Tay Do on September 2, April 30, or the fourth day of the Lunar New Year to see professional motor racers compete. “Races only go from 120cc to 150cc due to restrictions on racetracks, but they nevertheless draw a sizable crowd of spectators, including several tourists from all over the world," Mr. Viet stated.
