DNHN - The Director of the Long An Department of Industry and Trade - Huynh Van Quang Hung had a working session with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to discuss solutions for building and developing the Long An lime brand.
Mr Huynh Van Quang Hung - Director of the Long An Department of Industry and Trade shared that lime is one of the agricultural products in Long An, bringing high value to farmers, and many businesses and cooperatives inside and outside the province coordinate with farmers to organise planting in the direction of guaranteeing output consumption, domestic consumption, and export.
At present, the Long An lime brand has not yet reached its full potential. The provincial leaders desire to build a strong Long An lime product brand, and implement a promotion strategy so that when mentioning lime, people will immediately think of “Long An lime”. From there, lime products can be consumed more widely, bringing high income to lime growers and at the same time promoting the sustainable development of lime trees on Long An land.
The Long An Provincial People’s Committee and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City National University have signed a cooperation agreement in many fields. This includes the task of building the Long An lime product brand.
Associate Professor, Dr Ngo Thi Phuong Lan said that building the Long An lime product brand or any other product must be assessed, surveyed, and identified for the unique characteristic values of the province to serve as the basis for selecting and standardising the product. From there, proceed to promote the brand with unique, distinctive values of the locality that have regional, national, and international influence. Thereby, the product whose brand is built will be elevated in terms of position and value, contributing to the goal of rapid and sustainable development in the new period.
Currently, the area of seedless lime cultivation in Long An is very large, mainly concentrated in the Ben Luc district with about 7,000ha, of which the area for the product is 6,600ha. The province is also focusing on developing lime trees in the direction of high technology to increase value, and some businesses have carried out deep processing to reduce the rate of fresh fruit sales.
During the working session, Mr. Huynh Van Quang Hung proposed that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City National University support Long An in proposing solutions to build the Long An lime brand quickly. The goal is to bring the Long An lime brand to the international market. In addition to focusing on building the Long An lime brand, Long An is also gradually building brands for other products such as pineapple, glutinous rice, lap xuong (Vietnamese sausage), and other products.
