DNHN - In the manufacturing sector, Nestlé Vietnam maintains its top spot among the Top 100 "Sustainable Enterprises in 2023" list. Furthermore, it ranks among the top 5 innovative firms for reducing carbon emissions and implementing the circular economy.

At the ceremony held on December 13, 2023, in Hanoi by the Vietnam Confederation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD), to announce sustainable firms in Vietnam year 2023, the voting results were recently published. For the third year running, Nestlé Vietnam has been named the manufacturing sector's Most Sustainable Enterprise in Vietnam.
Under the direction of the government and in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, VCCI hosts and coordinates the programme to assess and announce sustainable businesses in Vietnam (CSI). Starting this year, the Central Economic Committee will also be a member of the Programme Steering Committee. This ensures that the CSI Programme will continue to gain recognition.
There are 130 indicators in the new CSI 2023 programme, comprising 82 basic indicators on legal compliance and 48 advanced indicators on creating a robust business environment to guarantee partners and other stakeholders long-term and sustainable advantages. Nestlé Vietnam is ranked first out of the 500 companies who applied to be a part of the programme, having achieved great results in these areas.
"Nestlé Vietnam has been working tirelessly to implement solutions and initiatives in all areas, including the environment, society, and governance, contributing to the overall socio-economic development of the nation, to become a global company with local connections and a pioneer in sustainable development. By working closely with Vietnamese partners, we make good contributions to the globe, the community, and the environment. Mr. Binu Jacob, General Director of Nestlé Vietnam Co., Ltd., said, "CSI ranking results with the leading position for three consecutive years is a proud recognition for our continuous efforts in implementing long-term investment commitments and for the sustainable development of Vietnam."
2023 will bring about a lot of new developments for Nestlé Vietnam in the areas of the environment, economy, and society, building on the remarkable outcomes of consistent sustainable development over the last several years.
In terms of environment, in June 2023, Nestlé Vietnam and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at advancing low-emission, regenerative, and sustainable agriculture. Thus, to address climate change, low-emission agriculture, and regenerative agriculture, Nestlé Vietnam collaborates with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. They also work together to enhance technology transfer, research, development, and digital transformation, as well as multi-stakeholder cooperation.
Nestlé Vietnam formally introduced the "Sustainable coffee farming according to the agroforestry model" project in Vietnam in 2023 as well. The project's goal is to plant over 2.3 million trees to lessen the absorption and storage of roughly 480,000 tonnes of CO2 during a five-year period (2023 - 2027).
In terms of the economy, Nestlé Vietnam was recognised in January 2023 on the list of businesses that paid the highest amount of corporate income tax in Vietnam in 2022. Since 2016, Nestlé Vietnam has appeared on the list published by the General Department of Taxation (Ministry of Finance) seven times in a row.
In terms of society, Nestlé Vietnam, in collaboration with the Vietnam Women's Union, has expanded its "Nestlé accompanies women" programme to 21 provinces and cities, with over 5,000 women participating by 2023. This initiative supports rural economic development and elevates the contribution of women to the establishment of the family economy.
In a programme led by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour - Invalids - Society, as well as the Vietnam Confederation of Commerce & Industry (VCCI), Nestlé Vietnam was recognised as a "Typical Enterprise for Workers" at the end of October 2023. Additionally, Nestlé Vietnam has held this distinction for the past four straight years. Nestlé Vietnam was recognised in November 2023 when Anphabe revealed the Top 1 rating of Best Places to Work in Vietnam in 2023 (Large Enterprise Sector). The award is a monument to the company's relentless efforts in creating a cutting-edge, suitable working environment for employees to develop their capabilities, towards common ideals, based on survey results from approximately 64,000 employees throughout Vietnam.
