Hanoi to have 5-10 Creative Design Centres advertising OCOP Products by late 2024

DNHN - The specific goal is to create Creative Design Centres to introduce, promote and sell OCOP goods and traditional crafts related to tourism, with the ultimate goal of giving craft villages that cater to tourism access to creative design capabilities.

Plan No. 297/KH-UBND, which Hanoi recently unveiled, aims to encourage the establishment of Creative Design Centres that showcase, market, and sell OCOP items alongside traditional crafts and tourism. By the end of 2024, the city hopes to have identified five to ten model centres spread throughout districts and towns.

Together with other departments, agencies, and local People's Committees, the Department of Industry and Trade is tasked with spearheading and directing the implementation. The implementation procedure will adhere to legal requirements to guarantee efficacy and efficiency, and prevent job duplication.

The plan's specific goal is to create Creative Design Centres to present, market, and distribute OCOP goods and traditional crafts related to tourism, with the ultimate goal of giving craft villages that cater to tourism access to creative design capabilities. The centres will also function as hubs for planning propaganda and communication campaigns about the introduction, marketing, and manufacturing of traditional crafts.

Notably, this concept will foster entrepreneurship and the growth of the local economy in traditional craft villages by establishing a network between young designers, research centres, and specialised colleges and craftspeople.

Both the state budget and socialised capital will be included in the budget for putting the idea into practice. By creating a comprehensive value chain that spans from creative design, processing, and manufacturing to product consumption, the aim is to preserve and promote traditional cultural values in the context of community-based tourism, agricultural tourism, and rural tourism, thereby contributing to the enhancement of the value of handicrafts, OCOP products, and traditional crafts.
