DNHN - Hoang Trung, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, emphasized the significance of the electronic traceability system in the agricultural sector's green transformation.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) hosted a conference on "Digital transformation towards green agriculture and sustainable development" on August 17. The event is a component of the project titled "Promoting private investment in low-carbon agriculture and climate change response, implementing Vietnam's Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC)".
The purpose of the conference is to promote innovative digital solutions in the fields of agriculture and rural development to assist Vietnam in meeting its NDC agricultural sector commitments.

The introduction of the electronic traceability system model was an essential component of the event. This system provides domestic and international consumers with access to information regarding the origin and carbon footprint of binh thuan dragon fruit. Buyers or importers of dragon fruit from this region can scan the QR code to obtain information about the fruit's origin and production, as well as the "green" or environmentally friendly nature of the manufacturing process.
This system aids in the monitoring and management of greenhouse gas emissions from the production process, particularly when exporting products to markets with strict greenhouse gas requirements.

Hoang Trung, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, emphasized the significance of the electronic traceability system in the agricultural sector's green transformation. Additionally, he emphasized that digital transformation is an unavoidable necessity and the responsibility of many societal layers, including farmers, businesses, and regulators.
Mr. Patrick Haverman, the Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Vietnam, expressed his satisfaction with the establishment of a carbon traceability system for Vietnam's two most important export commodities, dragon fruit, and prawns. He emphasized the significance of this tool for constructing a green economy and promoting smart and sustainable business practices among farmers and companies.
