DNHN - "The 98 outstanding businesses honored today are shining examples, representing responsibility, creativity, and persistence in environmental protection..."
“The 98 outstanding businesses honored today are shining examples, representing responsibility, creativity, and persistence in environmental protection,” stated Mr. Nguyễn Ngọc Hòa, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association, during the ceremony honoring and awarding the title of "Green Enterprise of Ho Chi Minh City 2024". The event took place on the evening of August 29 at Rex Hotel Saigon and was part of a series of activities leading up to the city's 5th Economic Forum, scheduled from September 24 to September 27, 2024, under the theme "Industrial Transformation: A New Driving Force for Sustainable Development in Ho Chi Minh City."

This is the second time the organizing committee has selected and awarded the "Green Enterprise of Ho Chi Minh City" title to 98 qualified businesses, including 53 from the business sector and 45 others, an increase of nearly 10 enterprises compared to 2023. This reflects a positive sign of business development, with "Green Criteria" increasingly receiving attention and becoming a priority for both emerging and established companies. At the ceremony, participants learned about the business community's strong determination to build green enterprises, committed to strictly implementing and complying with environmental standards, efficiently using resources, and developing green initiatives. Additionally, businesses were briefed on the significant role of green standards in exporting goods to international markets, as these standards are crucial in determining whether a company's products can enter the global market. Several countries have already adopted "green standards" to shape the global economy, and Vietnam is also striving to expand the number of enterprises meeting this goal. The ceremony honoring and awarding the title of "Green Enterprise of Ho Chi Minh City 2024" is part of the effort to promote this initiative, helping Vietnamese businesses access global markets more quickly and advancing Vietnam's economy on the world stage.
Throughout this event, participating enterprises also received support from the organizing committee in areas related to the standards for selecting the Green Enterprise title. "In addition to the selection and awarding of the Green Enterprise title, the organizing committee has created a comprehensive support ecosystem, including capital, market share, and branding, for green enterprises. Specifically, immediately after being awarded the Green Enterprise title, the Saigon Liberation Newspaper established a Green Enterprise section with various forms of content such as news, articles, video clips, and talk shows to support the development of green brands. The organizing committee also signed several comprehensive cooperation agreements with major distributors nationwide, such as Saigon Co.op Union of Trading Cooperatives, Saigon Trading Corporation - One Member Limited Liability Company (Satra), and MM Mega Market Vietnam Co., Ltd.," quoted from a speech by Mr. Phạm Văn Trường, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Saigon Liberation Newspaper. Through this, the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association is committed to supporting businesses throughout the transition to a green development model, as this not only contributes to affirming the enterprise's position but also demonstrates significant social responsibility.

The organizing committee noted that this year's evaluation and selection councils worked diligently to select the units that met the requirements and criteria for the award. Throughout the transparent, serious, and fair evaluation process, experienced experts carefully selected 98 businesses for the "Green Enterprise" title, including prominent names such as Saigon Trading Corporation, Bach Hoa Xanh Trading Joint Stock Company, and Viet Travel. The 98 businesses that have excelled in earning the title of "Green Enterprise 2024" are making a significant contribution to the development of Vietnam's economy and society. Looking ahead, the business community is committed to continuing its efforts to demonstrate its stature. Notably, there is hope that the "Green Enterprise of Ho Chi Minh City" award ceremony will continue to be celebrated in future years. However, for this to happen, businesses must make real green transformations and improve the green indices they have achieved; furthermore, the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association must fully support enterprises in getting closer to the prestigious "Green Enterprise" title.
